They say good things come in threes, and the Center for Teaching Excellence can certainly attest to that. Our team received a trio of good news this summer, learning that we are recipients of a Hoos Building Bridges Award, an Inclusive Excellence Award, and a President and Provost’s Fund for Institutionally Related Research Award.
The Hoos Building Bridges Awards celebrate cross-disciplinary partnerships and projects among UVA employees, offices and other units. Matthew Burgess, previously the CTE's assistant director of learning technology initiatives, was 2022 recipient of the award.
Boston College's CTE Executive Director Stacy Grooters was invited to participate as a guest facilitator at UVA's nationally recognized Course Design Institute. She worked closely with faculty from the Schools of Law, Architecture, and Commerce as they built their courses for the coming year.
CTE Assistant Director Adriana Streifer is one of six new members elected to the POD Network's Core Committee for a three-year term, starting in 2022.
CTE Faculty Fellow and Professor of Law Joe Fore discusses feedback strategies on the School of Education and Human Development's Designed for Online podcast.
Sociology Assistant Professor and CTE Faculty Fellow Rose Buckelew received a 2022 Teaching Award, along with 10 other faculty members.
Phoebe Cook credits the CTE's Tomorrow’s Professor Today program with helping her to win the biology department’s distinguished teaching fellowship, which gave her the opportunity to design and teach her own class. The experience may also have helped her win the All-University Graduate Teaching Award.
Congratulations to the Department of Art, Department of Biomedical Engineering, and Counselor Education program, recipients of the 2022 Curriculum (Re)Design Grants.
The CTE is excited to announce our inaugural SoTL Grant recipients: Haerin Beller (Medicine), Diana Franco Duran (Engineering), Diane Hoffman (Education), and Gary Koenig (Engineering).
The 2021-22 SoTL Scholar shares more about what she has learned as a result of her research and time in the program.
