2026 Innovations in Pedagogy Summit On-Site Track

This year's Innovations in Pedagogy Summit invites us to explore the role of trust in creating conditions where students and instructors can both thrive. Join colleagues from UVA and beyond to highlight teaching practices that deepen engagement, build community, and support transformative learning.

The event kicks off with our keynote speaker Dr. Isis Artze-Vega, lead author and editor of The Norton Guide to Equity-Minded Teaching and co-author of Connections Are Everything: A College Student’s Guide to Relationship-Rich Education. In her presentation titled "Toward Rigor, Health, & Equanimity: The What, Why, & How of Cultivating Trusting Relationships," we will dig into the multifaceted benefits of trusting relationships for faculty and students alike and discuss practical approaches to earning and maintaining trust.

Following the keynote, there will be interactive sessions and presentations by our colleagues at UVA and other institutions. The Summit will end with two special sessions:

2026 Summit Graduate Student Book Group

Whether you’re just getting started or have been in the classroom for years, The Norton Guide to Equity-Minded Teaching has something for you. This rich but easy-to-digest guide presents an approach to course design and implementation that is grounded in evidence and real teaching scenarios from multiple disciplines and instructor perspectives.

The day of the Summit will be the last of the three meetings for this group. Attendance at all three meetings – especially our final discussion at the Summit with co-author and the Innovations in Pedagogy Summit keynote speaker Isis Artze-Vega – is strongly encouraged.
