Adrian Crawford
Graduate Student
Biography
Adrian Crawford is a PhD candidate in the Astronomy department at UVA joining the Center for Teaching Excellence in August 2026. They first engaged in astronomy public outreach in third grade by reciting the best facts from a book about space to a polite yet unsuspecting principal. Thankfully, they have refined their pedagogy since then and now enjoy delivering engaging, fun, and accessible astronomy outreach to all audiences with a particular focus on bringing astronomy to Deaf and Blind communities. As a graduate student intern with the CTE, Adrian will develop programming specifically addressing graduate student teaching paradigms.
Adrian earned their M.S. in Astronomy from the University of Virginia in 2023 and their B.S. in Astronomy and B.S. in Physics from the University of Texas at Austin in 2021. Adrian's most recent obsession has been learning how to blow glass at a local hot shop as it's the closest they'll ever get to touching a star.
