Who can apply for a Thrive grant?
All academic general faculty, tenure-eligible and tenured faculty, and permanent administrative staff who regularly teach undergraduate courses at UVA and UVA Wise may apply. Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows are not eligible.
Is my course eligible for a grant if it is cross-listed as undergraduate and graduate?
Yes, if the majority of the students are undergraduates.
Can I apply for a grant for an activity that I have already completed?
No, we will only fund future projects.
Can I apply for a grant for a pedagogical innovation that I tried in the past and want to continue?
No, the intent of the grant is to encourage and support a culture of innovation. The expectation is that all proposed projects are adaptations of commonly employed teaching practices or activities or distinctly new, creative ones.
What happens if I miss the priority deadline?
If funds remain available after the priority deadline, proposals will be considered and funded on a rolling basis. Alternatively, if appropriate, the grant application will be considered as part of the next cycle.
