All academic general faculty, tenure-eligible and tenured faculty, and permanent administrative staff who regularly teach undergraduate courses at UVA and UVA Wise may apply. Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows are not eligible.

No, we will only fund future projects.

No, the intent of the grant is to encourage and support a culture of innovation. The expectation is that all proposed projects are adaptations of commonly employed teaching practices or activities or distinctly new, creative ones.

If summer salary is requested, there is one pay period we can use and still meet the spend deadlines. It's important to keep in mind that the total allowable wages from all sources for the summer period is limited in proportion to the faculty member’s prior academic year full-time equivalent salary and available effort.

For example, for nine-month faculty members, total wages from all sources for the summer period may not exceed 1/3 of the faculty member’s salary during the prior academic year. We encourage you to talk to your unit's financial administrator to determine what is possible.

If funds remain available after the priority deadline, proposals will be considered and funded on a rolling basis. Alternatively, if appropriate, the grant application will be considered as part of the next cycle.
