2025 Details

Spark is scheduled for Wednesday, August 13 and Thursday, August 14, 2025. Day 1 runs from 9:00 AM–3:10 PM, followed by an optional introduction to the University’s learning management system, UVACanvas, from 3:15–4:30 PM. Day 2 runs from 9:00 AM–3:30 PM. Coffee and tea throughout the day as well as lunch will be provided.

While new faculty benefit most from attending all sessions, it is permissible to step in and out as needed.

Note: The Provost's Office hosts a general orientation and welcome to UVA, which will be held Tuesday, August 19 and Wednesday, August 20, 2025. This two-day, in-person orientation is designed to welcome new faculty to UVA, build community, connect new faculty to useful resources, provide practical, concrete information, and encourage a healthy work-life balance. The Spark 2025 location will be announced soon.

Our goal is to make this event as inclusive as possible. All locations are accessible for individuals with mobility issues and accessible parking is available as needed. Some walking will be involved. Materials will be available in alternative formats and provided upon request.
