Session
OneHE Lunch and Learn Series: Attention and Distraction
Attention is a necessary condition for learning, but our current era offers so many significant distractions to the students in our classrooms. How can we help our students manage their attention? In this virtual lunch and learn, we'll watch and discuss a few short videos from the OneHE course "Helping Students Manage Attention and Distraction through Technology" by Michelle D. Miller, author of the 2022 book Remembering and Forgetting in the Age of Technology. To help us explore this topic, we'll be joined by Brian Helmke, associate professor of biomedical engineering, and Nicole Long, assistant professor of psychology, who will share their experiences helping students manage their attention.
Note: Since this is a virtual lunch and learn, participants are encouraged to bring their own lunches.
