Andrew Kennedy joined the Center for Teaching Excellence in the summer of 2023. As the Assistant Director of STEM Education Initiatives, he assists science, engineering, and math faculty with their teaching and STEM departments with their curricular goals for undergraduate education. Previously, he was an Associate Professor of Chemistry and Neuroscience studying the biochemical and epigenetic processes that underpin learning and memory. Andrew has taught courses on Organic Chemistry, Physical Organic Chemistry, Chemical Synthesis, Epigenetics, Mechanisms of Memory, and a first-year seminar on the Molecular Brain. His educational development work focuses on student motivation, self-efficacy, and establishing moving relationships with subject matter.
Andrew graduated from Providence College with a B.A. in Chemistry, earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Virginia, and was a postdoctoral researcher in Neurobiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
