Born and raised in Germany, Dorothe Bach joined the Center for Teaching Excellence in 2002. As associate director, Dorothe delivers a variety of educational development programs and supports teaching innovation. Her programmatic research interests cover a broad range of topics from course design to student-faculty partnerships, interactive theater for dialogue, faculty learning communities, and program assessment. Her current pedagogical interests focus on social justice-oriented teaching, contemplative pedagogy, embodied cognition, and environmental education. She regularly presents her work nationally and internationally and has been an invited workshop leader and consultant on four continents. She has published 17 peer-reviewed articles and received local and national awards for her teaching and educational development work.

Dorothe currently teaches an elective undergraduate course Restoring our Relationships with Nature and the capstone course in the Environmental Thought and Practice Program.
