Engineering Teaching Fellowship Program

Supporting graduate students and faculty mentor pairs with co-designing and co-teaching a course

The CTE supports a unique co-teaching experience called the Teaching Fellowship Program (TFP) in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, where faculty mentors and graduate student or postdoctoral research associate mentees pair up for authentic co-design and co-teaching. This program offers mentees the opportunity to develop and hone their teaching skills beyond a teaching assistantship, better-preparing them for future careers in academia and beyond. Fellows will:

  • gain knowledge in learning-focused pedagogical strategies and student-centered course design.

  • work closely with their teaching mentor and learn from a cooperative teaching experience.

  • gain confidence in designing and teaching a new course.

  • network with members of the UVA teaching community.
