Day-long Symposium
Virginia AI Symposium In-Person Track
This day-long symposium brings together instructors from colleges and universities across Virginia to critically explore the evolving role of generative AI in higher education. Grounded in current research on AI’s impact on teaching and learning, the symposium will offer a keynote, interactive sessions, and research presentations that translate emerging scholarship into actionable classroom practices.
Participants will engage in collaborative discussions and hands-on activities that support intentional decision-making about whether and how to incorporate GenAI in ways that enhance student learning. Sessions will focus on meaningful educational uses of GenAI in coursework and assessment, as well as building capacity for integration across diverse academic contexts.
Attendees will leave with practical tools, adaptable strategies, and curated resources. In addition, the symposium fosters cross-institutional dialogue, allowing educators to share ideas, compare practices, and build a statewide network committed to thoughtful, ethical, and educationally meaningful use of GenAI in teaching and learning.
