Reflective Teaching Statements for Renewal and Promotion Reviews

In this session, we'll discuss the nuts and bolts of writing a reflective teaching statement for promotion and renewal reviews. We’ll explore the various components of a teaching statement, examine sample statements from a variety of disciplines, and learn to apply a basic rubric for evaluating our own teaching statement. You’ll also have a chance to reflect on your teaching philosophy and practices, and consider how you wish to communicate these in writing.
