Workshop

Introduction to Equitable and Inclusive Pedagogy: Principles and Frameworks for Classroom Implementation

What do equity and inclusion mean in terms of pedagogy? How can graduate instructors translate these terms from the realm of theory into classroom practices?

This workshop* begins with the premise that good teaching is fundamentally anti-oppressive; to be good teachers, instructors must cultivate practices that support equity and justice. Based on these foundational values, you will deepen your conceptual understanding of educational equity, and encounter some frameworks to guide you as you implement equitable pedagogical practices in your teaching. Throughout the workshop, we will pay attention to the specific contexts and power dynamics that are most relevant to working as a graduate teaching assistant.

*This workshop fulfills the Tomorrow's Professor Today (TPT) program's Inclusive Teaching workshop requirement.
