Learning Community

Graduate Student Learning Community

CTE learning communities are small, peer-led groups of instructors who come together to discuss particular teaching topics, issues, or practices. This semester, the CTE will sponsor a community for graduate student teachers that will focus on unpacking the hidden curriculum of being a TA. The goal of this community is to provide a casual, supportive environment where we can share activities and resources, workshop ideas, and discuss teaching concerns that come up over the course of the semester.

Each meeting, we will start with a teaching problem, work-in-progress presentation, or “show-and-tell” from a graduate student teacher (either an invited guest or a member of the group). From there, we will workshop ideas, give supportive feedback, and discuss how similar activities or principles could apply to our own discipline. Snacks will be provided!

Join for a pay-your-own-way happy hour. The TBT El Gallo will be on site. Enter our raffle to win a short, digestible book on practical pedagogy!
