Reading Group

Equity-Minded Teaching Reading Group

What is equity-minded teaching? What would it look like in my class? How do I get started? In this reading group, we will explore these questions and consider how they apply to the teaching experiences of graduate students and postdocs.

We will read excerpts from The Norton Guide to Equity-Minded Teaching, by Isis Artze-Vega, Flower Darby, Bryan Dewsbury, and Mays Imad. Book author Mays Imad will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Innovations in Pedagogy Summit on May 3. Imad will discuss the science of biological and behavioral resilience and its connection to learning. This reading group offers the opportunity to draw connections between equity-minded teaching and Imad’s expertise as a neuroscientist, educator, and mental health advocate. During our time together, we will reflect on what we learn and imagine ways to grow our own equity-minded teaching.

By registering, you agree to commit to attending all three sessions.

An optional fourth session will occur on May 4 at 3:30 pm after the Innovations in Pedagogy Summit to provide an opportunity to reflect and discuss the keynote address for those who are able to attend.
