2.X: AI-Enhanced Writing Assignment Design

Do you assign writing to students and wonder how you might leverage the benefits (and minimize the losses) of generative artificial intelligence (AI)? Are you looking for ways to test out new writing assignments with generative AI? This two-day session offered jointly by CTE and Writing Across the Curriculum offers a deeper dive into designing writing assignments across disciplines with generative AI.

Participants will build on the best of up-to-date, evidence-based pedagogy to create one or more ready-to-implement writing assignments that will help students deeply understand and engage with course content. Along the way, participants will engage with different types of writing assignments, work hands-on with generative AI tools, practice transparently communicating assignments, and collaboratively review one another’s work.

We define writing broadly! If you assign ANY kind of content creation in your courses (visualizing data, sketching out models, giving prepared oral presentations, designing and coding programs, as well as more traditional forms of writing like essays–in any language), this two-day session is for you.

We will meet in person from 10 AM to 3PM on both days in Gilmer 490. Lunch will be provided.
