Workshop
Brave Enough to Learn: Care, Challenge, and Co-Presence in the Classroom
How do we stay present when classroom moments feel uncertain or charged? How do we hold high standards while also leading with care? And how might we use the precious time we share in the classroom more purposefully — as a space for connection, courage, and trust?
This interactive workshop explores teaching through practices drawn from applied improvisation, intercultural education, and trauma-informed perspectives on learning. We’ll experiment with skills of authenticity, relating across difference, co-regulation, and intentional processing that help create environments where all participants can feel safe enough to be brave — to take intellectual risks, seek and speak truth with reciprocally enriching curiosity, and remain accountable to one another. Rather than avoiding challenge, we’ll practice meeting it intentionally as necessary opportunity for collective growth.
Participants will leave with practical facilitation tools and renewed confidence in fostering classrooms grounded in shared responsibility among teachers and students, emancipatory agency, and transformative learning.
