Marina Escámez Ballesta

CTE Faculty Fellow & Lecturer of Spanish

 

Marina Escámez Ballesta joined the team as a CTE Faculty Fellow in July 2021. Marina is a Lecturer of Spanish, General Faculty, in the Department of Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese, where she teaches intermediate advanced Spanish, and serves as the course coordinator of the same level. As a CTE Faculty Fellow, Marina will be contributing to our mission of enhancing teaching and learning and fostering teaching innovation.

Marina’s interests include applied linguistics, teachings methods, and instructional technology. Currently, she is working on a research project on specifications grading for Spanish language courses to improve students’ perceptions of the course learning outcomes, self-efficacy, and motivation. She is part of a long-term project that will culminate in the creation of an Open Educational Resource for the Language Program of Spanish.

Marina earned her M.A. in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and Spanish from West Virginia University and her B.A. in Philology from the University of Murcia, in Spain.
