Biography

Kristin Sloane joined the Center for Teaching Excellence in March 2019. She supports our programs, events, initiatives, and various projects, ensuring successful execution and completion. She also handles the Center's marketing and communications efforts through managing the CTE's web ecosystem, social media accounts, and email marketing (subscribe to updates!). Kristin strives to highlight teaching excellence at UVA as well as enhance and elevate the Center's visibility across Grounds and beyond.

Kristin graduated with her B.A. in English Literature and Rhetoric from Binghamton University and obtained her M.A.M.C. in Journalism from the University of Florida. While pursuing her master’s degree, she served in academic support roles, including a graduate adviser and a program assistant. In the former, she provided academic guidance to undergraduate communications students. As a program assistant, she served as the point of contact for prospective students of a distance learning program. Additionally, she worked as a copy editor at the local student newspaper. After graduating, Kristin headed from the Sunshine State to snowy Syracuse, NY to work in industry at a news station where she was a producer for three years. In addition to broadcast, she also has experience writing for online and print media.
