The UVA Undergraduate Learning Assistant program, known as ULAs@UVA, is an initiative designed to support instructors who want to increase student learning and the quality of student engagement in their STEM classrooms. Modeled after a program developed at UC-Boulder, our ULA program is designed to support UVA STEM instructors making extensive use of innovative, evidence-based pedagogies in their courses. The ULAs—undergraduate students who have done well in the class previously—help facilitate learning activities during instructional time. Click here to learn more.
This pilot program is funded by a grant from American Association of Universities (AAU) and UVA’s Office of the Provost & Vice President. It is directed through a partnership between the Center for Teaching Excellence and A&S Learning Design & Technology.
