The Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs is dedicated to creating a University-wide focus on graduate education and postdoctoral training. This office maintains the online Graduate Guide to assist incoming and enrolled graduate students with adjusting to life in Charlottesville.

PhD Plus is housed within this office and is a university-wide initiative to prepare PhD students and Postdoctoral scholars across all disciplines for long-term career success. Whether pursuing an academic career or exploring the wide diversity of careers outside of academia, PhD Plus provides up-to-date and relevant resources that will help students make informed career decisions and conduct effective job searches. PhD Plus also offers many professional development opportunities each semester. Students are encouraged to begin using the services of the office early in their graduate careers, which include individual career advising appointments, a Foundation Series of workshops for first and second-year students, electronic resources, and other professional development programs.
