Eligibility

Teaching and Learning in the Arts and Humanities is open to full-time faculty (tenure-track, tenured, and general faculty) from any arts and humanities discipline. Participants must be teaching in the fall of 2019.

Expectations

Participants will participate in either the May 20-24 or the June 17-21 Course Design Institute, where they will design or redesign a course to teach in the fall of 2019. During the fall and spring semester, participants will meet monthly to discuss the key questions driving their thinking about teaching and to support each other in the implementation of their new or newly redesigned courses.

Each participant will receive $1500 to support professional development, course development, or research activities. Funding is contingent upon completing the Course Design Institute and attending a majority of the monthly meetings.

Note: There is a registration fee associated with the Course Design Institute. If you qualify for UVA’s Educational Benefit, you can cover the cost through this benefit. If you are not eligible for this benefit, please ask us about a tuition waiver. For more information on the Education Benefit and to confirm eligibility, visit the University Human Resources website.
