We encourage applications from junior faculty who will begin their first or second semester as tenure-track assistant professors at UVa during the fellowship period. Those who will thrive in the Program are colleagues interested in connecting with University colleagues and in contributing to a network of diverse faculty members who are committed to educating students for socially responsible engagement in an interdependent world. We particularly seek applications from faculty from underrepresented groups (including but not limited to first-generation PhDs, women faculty, minority faculty, and international faculty) and from faculty whose research interests may not fit traditional organizational frameworks.
Note: Since a major goal of the EDF Program is to promote a peer-level support network and intellectual discourse among a diverse group of faculty members, your active engagement in the Program is crucial. At the beginning of the academic year, all Fellows will participate in a day-long retreat to start building a team, explore issues of diversity, and gain an orientation to being an assistant professor at UVa. As the retreat is an essential part of the Program, you may only apply if you are able to come to this event. By accepting the Fellowship you will commit to actively participate in the retreat and the Program activities throughout the academic year. Award of the fellowship funding will be contingent upon your active participation in the retreat and the regular EDF meetings.
