CTE will host three separate Course Design Institute’s in 2018:
- session 1 (January 8-12); application deadline is November 27th
- session 2 (May 21-25); application deadline TBD
- session 3 (June 18-22); application deadline TBD

The application will take approximately 15-30 minutes to complete, depending on your familiarity with the course you’re planning to design. We recommend completing the application in its entirety in one sitting since intermediate work is sometimes lost. To preview the application questions, click here.
The registration fee for the 2018 Course Design Institute is $900.00 and covers all programming costs, including one-on-one consultation services during CDI. The CTE will provide participants with print resources, a copy of Dee Fink’s bestselling book, Creating Significant Learning Experiences, and lunch and refreshments each day of the Institute.
Up to five UVA graduate students may be accepted to participate in the Institute, with all expenses covered by the Center for Teaching Excellence.
Payment & Registration
Once applicants are accepted to participant in CDI, they will receive detailed information about payment procedures and registering for the Institute.
*UVA Faculty & Education Benefit
The CDI qualifies for the UVA Education Benefit. The Education Benefit provides centrally-funded financial support for education, vocational, and professional development. Faculty who are not eligible for UVA’s Educational Benefit may qualify for a tuition waiver through the CTE’s Ignite program.
