Robert Boice, formerly Professor of Psychology and Director of the Faculty Instructional Support Office, State University of New York at Stony Brook.
Is there ever enough time? Even though we see many interrelationships between our scholarly writing and teaching, finding a good balance can be difficult. From his numerous studies on how new faculty can most effectively research, write, and teach, Bob Boice has useful insights to offer on managing scholarly productivity. This workshop should be beneficial for both assistant professors and advanced graduate students planning on academic careers. Much of the workshop will focus on Boice’s recent book First-Order Principles for College Teachers (loan copies available at the TRC; see also the review from Spring 1998 Teaching Concerns).
