Date: Thursday February 9, 2012

What do we value in teaching at the University of Virginia? The chance to hire a large percentage of new faculty over the coming decade brings opportunities and challenges. How do we preserve and expand the University’s positive ethos around teaching? How do we encourage teaching experimentation and innovation and share successes? How can we best help the next generation of students learn well, especially with ever-increasing enrollments?

Please join this conversation among faculty about the future of teaching and learning at U.Va. Panelists President Teresa Sullivan, Provost John Simon, Professor of Psychology Dennis Proffitt, and Professor of Italian Literature and Film Cristina Della Coletta will kick off the discussion. Moderated by TRC Director Marva Barnett. Your ideas, questions, and suggestions are most welcome. Open to all U.Va. faculty. Light refreshments provided.

Sponsored by the Teaching Resource Center, the University Academy of Teaching, and Provost John Simon
